The Miami Dolphins have hired the next head coach of their organization, as they officially signed Mike McDaniel to a contract on Monday. Now, he will begin filling out the rest of his staff before free agency and the draft come.
According to Josh Kendall of the Athletic, the Dolphins will interview Atlanta Falcons quarterbacks coach Charles London for the Dolphins’ open offensive coordinator position. London, 46, just joined the Falcons staff this past season after spending three years with the Chicago Bears under Matt Nagy as the running backs coach.
In London’s lone season as Atlanta’s quarterbacks coach, Matt Ryan threw for just 218.4 yards per game, good for 16th. With wide receiver Calvin Ridley missing most of the season due to mental health struggles, that blame can’t be placed solely on the quarterbacks coach or coordinator Dave Ragone.
London actually spent three seasons in Houston with Miami’s co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach George Godsey who served as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator under Bill O’Brien.
