Report: Derek Carr to Meet With Jets, Panthers, Saints

While most of the focus at the NFL scouting combine is on the draft hopefuls, at least three teams will have their eyes on a talented veteran quarterback who recently hit free agency.

On Monday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that former Raiders quarterback Derek Carr would travel to Indianapolis to meet with teams during the combine, which runs from Tuesday through March 6.

Now, Rapoport says that three teams are set to meet with Carr in person: the Jets and Saints, who have already hosted the quarterback this offseason, as well as the Panthers. Rapoport also added that other teams could look to meet with him as well, as they’ll all be in the same city for the combine.

New York and New Orleans are clearly interested in Carr, with the Jets reportedly going so far as to say that they believe Carr could become a first-ballot Hall of Famer with the team.

Carr, who was released by Las Vegas earlier this month, is reportedly seeking a deal worth at least $35 million per year. In addition, according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, he is not concerned with rushing the process and “doesn’t need to be the first quarterback to sign.”

In 15 starts for the Raiders in 2022, Carr threw for 3,522 yards, 24 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
