The Danilo Gallinari era of the Boston Celtics might end before the Italian swingman ever steps on the court based on new reporting from Yahoo Sports Jake Fischer.
Per Fischer, “Gallinari is being included in the developing three-team trade involving Boston, (the Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Wizards swapping Malcolm Brogdon for Kritaps Porzingis) with Gallinari on track to head to the Wizards.”
If Boston does not believe strongly that Gallinari can contribute to the team substantially next season, such a move would make sense. The Celtics’ title aspirations demand as much capable frontcourt depth as possible, especially given the past health of Robert Williams III and the heavy minutes on veteran Al Horford’s legs over the last two seasons.
The 2023 NBA draft could be key to any big moves made by Boston or they could have a quiet night picking No. 35; we explore that range. https://t.co/ZE06lMPBxu

How these moves will play with the looming restricted free agency of reserve swingman Grant Williams remains to be seen. The Charlotte native reportedly possesses a deep market for his services.
