Free agent linebacker Shaquille Leonard is visiting with the Cowboys on Tuesday and should also be visiting with the Eagles later this week, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Leonard, a four-time All-Pro, was released by the Colts on Nov. 21.
At one point, Leonard was the best linebacker in the NFL. He was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2018 and led the league in tackles that same year and also led the NFL in forced fumbles in 2021. But his play has taken a significant dip in the last two years.
Leonard only played in three games in 2022 due to a variety of injuries, including a concussion and a lingering back injury. This year, Leonard has just 65 tackles and has yet to record a sack or a forced fumble in his nine games played.
Both Philadelphia and Dallas have hopes of making a push for the Super Bowl, something Leonard has never been able to do in Indianapolis. Despite his dip in production, his experience will be invaluable to either contender.
