The Cleveland Browns are expected to hire Indianapolis Colts special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone for the same role, according to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports.
While the hire isn’t official, the interview Wednesday between Ventrone and the Browns reportedly went well, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

Cabot also reported that the Colts still love Ventrone and would prefer to keep him on the staff.
“A source told cleveland.com that Ventrone’s interview with the Browns went great, and that he has a good chance of landing the job and returning to Cleveland, where he played special teams from 2009-2012.
The problem for the Browns with Ventrone is that the Colts — with a new head coach in Shane Steichen — also love him and would like to keep him.”
Ventrone has a special connection with the Browns considering he played there for four seasons and was the special teams captain for two of them. It was one of the final stops in his playing career before he got into coaching.
Ventrone has been a well-respected member of the Colts organization. He’s highly regarded in the locker room and was given a chance to interview for the head coach vacancy following the expiration of Jeff Saturday’s interim tenure.
This situation is fluid and deserves to be monitored, but there’s a chance Ventrone moves on this offseason.
