Former Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus is now the head coach of the Chicago Bears and he has his sights set on several of his assistants to follow him.
It has been reported that Colts linebackers coach Dave Borgonzi and cornerbacks coach James Rowe will follow Eberflus to Chicago. Now, there’s a report that safeties coach Alan Williams will interview for the vacated defensive coordinator role under Eberflus, per Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.
The Colts will interview ex-Jaguars DC Joe Cullen for their defensive coordinator job tomorrow, per sources. Indy is looking at a number of outside candidates to bring in.
Meanwhile, the Bears will interview Colts safeties coach Alan Williams (among others) for their DC job.

Williams is still in the mix to take over as the defensive coordinator for the Colts as they search for a replacement. They need to fill the vacancy that Eberflus left and Williams is the most logical choice when it comes to in-house candidates.
Williams has been with the Colts since joining the staff in 2018 so he would likely bring a similar scheme if he’s the defensive coordinator. He’s held that role before in his career with the Minnesota Vikings (2012-2013).
It’s also clear the Colts are bringing in outside candidates for the role. They are expected to interview Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Joe Cullen on Saturday and Washington defensive backs coach Chris Harris at some point over the weekend.
