The Minnesota Vikings seem to have gotten their running back position solidified in a major way.
According to The Athletic’s Diana Russini, former Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones is expected to sign with the Vikings. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports that it is a one-year deal worth $7 million.
A fifth-round pick out of UTEP in 2017, Jones has been torturing Vikings defenses for the last seven years. Now, the only time he will get to do that is on the practice field.
Last season, Jones was seventh in PFF rushing grade and sixth in yards after contact per carry, two things that should continue to bode well for him moving forward.
Jones joins a running back room with Ty Chandler, DeWayne McBride, Myles Gaskin and C.J. Ham. He should be the starter on opening day in September.
