A replay review took an apparent Michigan touchdown off the scoreboard in the second quarter of Saturday’s Fiesta Bowl against TCU.
Still, the Wolverines had a first-and-goal at about the half-yard line.
What could go wrong?

J.J. McCarthy attempted a handoff to Kalel Mullings, who fumbled.
Bud Clark, who had a 41-yard pick-six in the first quarter, corraled the fumble in the end zone, and the play was ruled TCU ball. Because it was recovered in the end zone it was a touchback.
One could question the decision to give the ball to Mullings, who is listed as a linebacker/running back on the roster. He had 9 carries coming into the CFP semifinal.

The Wolverines were in position at the goal line after an interception by Derius Davis.
McCarthy went deep for Roman Wilson and found him, catch the ball as he fell into the end zone.
The call on the field was a touchdown but upon further review, the replay booth said Wilson was down a half-yard from paydirt.

And one play later instead of six points, the Wolverines had committed another turnover.
