Rep. Ted Lieu Questions Robert Hur On Trump Vs. Biden

Final 2020 U.S. presidential campaign debate in Nashville

During a recent hearing, Rep. Ted Lieu questioned Robert Hur, highlighting the differences between President Biden and former President Trump's actions. Lieu emphasized that the House Judiciary Committee plays a crucial role in upholding the rule of law and expressed concerns about the committee's ability to obtain information due to the chairman's actions.

Lieu commended Hur for sharing his immigrant story, underscoring America's identity as a nation of immigrants. He proceeded to ask a series of yes or no questions based on Hur's report, clarifying that President Biden did not engage in activities that Trump was accused of.

Hur confirmed that there was no evidence of President Biden directing his lawyer to lie to the FBI, destroy classified documents, hide boxes of documents, delete security camera footage, or engage in a conspiracy to obstruct justice. In contrast, Trump's mishandling of classified information and obstruction of justice were highlighted.

Lieu further inquired if President Biden had set up a shell company for hush money, paid off adult film stars and models, pressured election officials, organized fake electors, or incited violence on January 6, 2021. Hur's responses indicated that these actions were attributed to Trump, not President Biden.

Lieu concluded by pointing out that Trump faced indictments in multiple criminal cases for his actions, contrasting them with President Biden's compliance with investigators and commitment to upholding the law. The hearing shed light on the stark differences in behavior between the two presidents regarding legal matters and ethical conduct.
