During a recent interview, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez expressed concerns about the violent rhetoric being used by former President Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance. Ocasio-Cortez highlighted that she believes the most aggressive language this election cycle has originated from Trump and Vance, particularly in the aftermath of an apparent assassination attempt against Trump.

Ocasio-Cortez pointed out that she sees a direct connection between incitement and action in the rhetoric employed by Trump and Vance. She specifically called out Vance for spreading false rumors about migrants in Springfield, Ohio, and urged both Trump and Vance to tone down their targeting of specific communities.

Regarding Trump, Ocasio-Cortez stated that she views him as a threat to democracy, referencing his actions on January 6, 2021, and his refusal to accept the results of the 2020 presidential election. In response to Trump's claims that Democrats labeling him a threat to democracy led to attempts on his life, Ocasio-Cortez emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of all candidates, regardless of their political affiliation.

She further emphasized the need to protect the American people from harmful and divisive rhetoric, advocating for a more civil discourse in political discussions. Ocasio-Cortez's remarks underscore the ongoing debate surrounding the impact of inflammatory language in public discourse and its potential consequences.
