House GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has announced that she will chair a new oversight subcommittee in the upcoming 119th Congress. This subcommittee, named the Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE), will collaborate with the recently formed Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.
House Oversight Chair James Comer is set to establish the DOGE subcommittee, with Greene appointed as its chairperson. The decision was confirmed by a reliable source familiar with the matter. Comer and Greene, both known for their support of President-elect Donald Trump, recently met with Ramaswamy and his team to discuss the subcommittee's objectives.
The primary goal of the new subcommittee is to align with Trump and his allies' efforts to implement substantial cuts within the federal government. The subpanel's focus will include scrutinizing the salaries and performance of federal civil service members and intergovernmental personnel, among other oversight measures.
In a statement, Greene expressed her enthusiasm for leading the subcommittee and working closely with President Trump, Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, and the entire DOGE team. She emphasized that the subcommittee's investigations will target individuals who are not fulfilling their duties, failing audits such as those in the Pentagon, and mishandling significant amounts of government funds.
Greene outlined her plans to conduct thorough investigations into wasteful practices across various federal government departments and to hold hearings to address these issues.
