Rep. John Carter, R-Texas reported that his Georgetown office was vandalized by what he described as 'unhinged anti-Israel activists.' The incident occurred shortly after Carter voted in favor of providing $26 billion in aid to Israel. The vandalism included red liquid splattered on the office door, spelling out 'Free Gaza.'
Carter took to social media to denounce the act, stating that his support for Israel remains steadfast and that he will not be intimidated by such actions. He also vowed to identify and prosecute those responsible to the fullest extent of the law.
Authorities from the Georgetown Police Department responded to the scene following reports of a possible burglary. The incident is being investigated as criminal mischief, which is considered a misdemeanor in Texas if the damage falls within the range of $750 to $2,500. The estimated cost of cleaning up the vandalism was around $2,000.
Despite the incident, Carter, along with 365 other House members, voted in favor of the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, which allocates $26.38 billion in aid to Israel. The bill also includes various other provisions aimed at supporting Israel's security.
This comes amid ongoing protests by anti-Israel groups in various cities and universities across the country, including recent demonstrations at Columbia University in New York City.
