Following an aerial survey of the aftermath of Hurricane Milton in Manatee County, Florida, Representative Vern Buchanan expressed his shock at the extent of the devastation. The congressman described the scene as 'pretty devastating,' noting that he had never witnessed such destruction in his 30 years of living by the water.
Rep. Buchanan highlighted the alarming sight of homes almost being engulfed by the water, with sand creeping up into the houses. Particularly hard-hit areas included Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key, where homes reportedly had up to 4 feet of sand blown inside.
