Renfrewshire police has urged motorists to be on their guard after another theft from a vehicle.
The service issued an appeal after the thief struck at 2am on Monday morning on Glenpatrick Road in Elderslie.
Officers from the Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Police Division say the break-in was captured on CCTV.
It shows a male with a device in his hand next to the car before he is seen rummaging through the vehicle and stealing £150 from within.
It is thought that a relay device, which mimics the signal from a nearby key fob, was used to gain access to the car.
Police say that it’s possible the suspect may have tried other vehicles in the area and so they are asking for anybody nearby to check security footage they have and get in touch with them, quoting reference number 2394 of Monday, March 27.
A spokesperson said: “We understand people’s lives are very busy and they’ve got a lot of other issues to worry about right now, but please be vigilant of your vehicles.
“There are devices you can purchase to keep your keys safe from criminals using such techniques.”
