The ancient remains of a Roman fortlet which was thought to be lost have been unearthed in a field near Glasgow.
Previous attempts to find the fortification, which was built next to the Antonine Wall, the frontier that the Romans constructed across central Scotland, yielded nothing.
But a recent geophysical survey in an unassuming field close to Carleith Primary School in Clydebank has revealed details lost for centuries, Historic Environment Scotland (HES) has announced.
