Remain indoors: Embassy of India in Doha issues urgent advisory amid security alert in Qatar and escalating US-Israel war against Iran

Amid growing tensions across the Middle East, the Embassy of India in Doha has issued an urgent advisory asking Indian nationals in Qatar to remain indoors and strictly follow safety instructions issued by local authorities. The advisory comes as the regional security situation remains volatile, prompting governments and embassies across the Gulf to issue precautionary warnings for their citizens.

Advisory issued for Indian community in Qatar amid US-Israel war against Iran

In a statement shared on its official platforms, the Indian mission urged citizens to avoid unnecessary movement and stay inside their homes unless absolutely necessary. The advisory also instructed residents to keep away from windows, balconies and other exposed areas, highlighting concerns over potential security risks in the region.

Authorities emphasised that residents should rely only on official government updates and credible sources for information, avoiding rumours or unverified reports that could cause panic. The embassy has also asked the Indian community to closely follow guidelines issued by Qatar’s Ministry of Interior Qatar.

To assist Indian citizens affected by the situation, the embassy has activated 24×7 emergency helplines and email support services. These channels are designed to help residents and travellers access assistance quickly during emergencies.

In addition, authorities have introduced a special registration system for stranded transit passengers, allowing some travellers to apply for a temporary Saudi transit visa so they can exit Qatar through the Salwa Border Crossing. However, processing requests may take at least 48 hours, and travellers must arrange their own transport to the border.

The advisory reflects broader concerns across the Middle East, where several countries have issued safety warnings to their citizens amid rising geopolitical tensions and security threats. Governments have urged residents to remain vigilant and follow local authorities’ instructions as the situation evolves.

For the large Indian diaspora living in Qatar, one of the biggest expatriate communities in the Gulf, the Indian embassy’s assertive message is to prioritise safety, stay indoors when possible and remain alert until the security situation stabilises.

Flights suspended in Qatar as airspace situation evolves amid US-Israel war against Iran

Travel disruptions have added to the uncertainty. Reports indicate that Qatar’s airspace has been temporarily closed, forcing airlines to suspend flights in and out of the country. As a result, many travellers have been left stranded while waiting for further updates from airlines and authorities.

Officials said that updates on flight operations are expected periodically and travellers are advised to stay in contact with their airlines regarding rescheduling or alternative travel plans.
