Mumbai: Investment incomes are driving profits for India's general insurance sector, making it structurally weaker when compared with global peers, which drive the bottomline through core operations, a report said on Friday.
Other aspects like heavy reliance on distributors to sell 80 per cent of new business, leading to higher costs, are also impacting profitability, the report by a consulting firm has said.
