A teenage boy was arrested for allegedly stealing a car and leading police on a pursuit through Canberra's south three days after he was released on bail.
ACT Policing said about 10.15pm on Sunday, police conducting patrols in Yarralumla detected a white Skoda Octavia that had been reported stolen earlier that day.
The vehicle was observed travelling towards Cotter Road before police began monitoring its movements.
Police will allege the vehicle was driven through a number of suburbs including Curtin, Holder, Duffy, Rivett, Chapman and Kambah.
A coordinated police response was initiated, and tyre deflation devices were successfully deployed on Harrington Circuit in Kambah. Despite this, police will allege the driver failed to stop when directed, continuing to drive through nearby streets at speeds above posted limits.
A short time later the vehicle came to a stop in Kambah, where officers arrested the sole occupant, the 14-year-old boy, police said.
The boy was released on bail after allegedly stealing a vehicle on Thursday, June 25, and went on to commit the same crime on Sunday.
He will face an ACT Children's Court on Monday, June 29, 2026, after being charged with driving a vehicle without consent, driving unlicenced, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police, ACT Policing said.
