Syrian regime forces and Iranian militias are heavily shelling de-escalation zones in the countryside of Aleppo, Idlib and Hama in northwest Syria. In the Aleppo countryside, Damascus and its allied Iranian proxies struck civilian homes in Kafr Taal and al-Bab.
At least two children and two disabled individuals were killed in the attacks. Another five people were severely injured.
The attack raised fears over an escalation and military confrontation.
“About 30,000 people in Kafr Taal, Taqad, Sahara and Arhab, which are located near the line of contact with the regime forces, are living under difficult conditions,” Abu Mohammad, 56, told Asharq Al-Awsat.
The west Aleppo countryside local explained that regime forces have been stepping up their attacks on the region on a daily basis. Moreover, Iranian militias have set up positions and military bases with rocket launchers, tanks and heavy artillery in villages and towns near contact lines.
As tensions rise, local fears grow towards regime forces bombing their homes in response to the cross-border Turkish military campaign against the Syrian Democratic Forces.
In Idlib, Russian warplanes struck a house on the outskirts of the town of al-Jadida in the Jisr al-Shughur countryside, killing seven people including five children and wounding more than 12 others.
The Syrian Civil Defense, also known as the White Helmets, revealed that seven civilians, including four children from one family, were killed, and 12 others, including eight children, were injured.
The Russian military, a key backer of the Syrian regime, had struck a poultry farm inhabited by displaced persons on the outskirts of al-Jadida village and civilian homes on the outskirts of al-Janoudiyah village in the western countryside of Idlib.
Russian forces also attacked a refugee camp near Afrin in northern Aleppo.
