Refs overturning Louisville’s TD after a Miami fumble had college football fans making the same ACC joke

The Cam Ward-led Miami Hurricanes simply can’t win games under normal circumstances this season.

In Miami’s win over Virginia Tech, the game was decided on a Hail Mary that was overturned in the endzone. To beat Cal, Miami needed a 25-point comeback – and the referees to avoid calling what seemed like blatant targeting.

On Saturday, leading 45-38 in the fourth quarter at Louisville, Miami needed another call to go their way. On first glance, it seemed as though Louisville recovered a loose ball from Ward and ran it back for a touchdown, which would’ve tied the game. Officials never whistled the fumble return dead and allowed the play to unfold naturally.

But on a review, the call was reversed. Referees said that Ward was making a forward pass, and the ball touched the turf before Louisville scooped it up. So, Miami retained possession and went on to score again to pad their lead.

College football fans all made the same ACC joke about the refs overturning Louisville’s touchdown

Miami went on to win, 52-45. And so, the ACC still has two undefeated teams that look like playoff contenders heading into late October.
