Reform’s Zia Yusuf accuses rivals of ‘incitement’ amid threats to party

  • Reform UK 's home affairs spokesman, Zia Yusuf , accused rival politicians and the media of creating a climate of "incitement" against his party, which he controversially linked to the murder of Ann Widdecombe .
  • Mr Yusuf cited historic social media posts from Labour MPs, including Jess Phillips and David Lammy, which he claimed contributed to a narrative that Reform UK is a threat that needs to be "eliminated."
  • The Conservative Party and Liberal Democrats swiftly criticised Mr Yusuf for hypocrisy, highlighting his own past use of strong rhetoric, such as calling Tory and Labour politicians "traitors" and "open borders lunatics."
  • Critics argued that Reform UK is "all too happy to dish it out and not happy to take it," and that Mr Yusuf's comments "only serves people who seek to harm parliamentarians."
  • Reform UK used the press conference to demand increased security for all Members of Parliament, with Mr Yusuf suggesting the controversial £5m donation to Nigel Farage was partly intended to cover security costs.
