A Reform UK MP has described social media posts by his own party’s candidate in the Makerfield by-election as "inappropriate," but defended them as "private" comments of "an ordinary man".

Robert Kenyon, who is set to challenge Labour’s Andy Burnham in the 18 June contest, used a now-deleted X account to endorse an offensive post targeting Welsh broadcaster Carol Vorderman.
