Reform candidate in Scottish by-election blasted over 'satanic trash' comment

REFORM UK’s candidate in a forthcoming Scottish by-election has been condemned over comments in which she described actors as “satanic worshipping trash”.

Jo Hart – the party’s candidate in the forthcoming Aberdeen South by-election, which was triggered by Stephen Flynn resigning – also appeared to suggest 5G masts have negative impacts on health in historic posts on Linkedin first revealed by The Herald.

Responding to a LinkedIn post in 2022 which talked about an interaction between Lady Gaga and Liza Minnelli at the Oscars, Hart said: "OMG... These Hollywood programmers are disgusting. All these actors are here to perform 24/7 & they are satanic worshipping trash- all of them. They are there to distract, manipulate & program us while calling it 'entertainment'."

Meanwhile, in another LinkedIn exchange in 2023, Hart appeared to joke that having 5G towers outside of a medical centre would lead to "more anti-depressants prescribed".

Responding to a post featuring an image of a 5G mast outside a medical centre, she wrote: "Totally ironic.. increase customers though… more anti-depressants prescribed the more winning of incentives.. I have an angle-grinder & a balaclava???"

Hart, who previously stood for Reform UK in Aberdeenshire West in the recent Scottish Parliament elections, was announced as the party’s candidate on Monday.

At her campaign launch, she said: "Aberdeen was once proudly known as the oil capital of Europe.

"The North Sea industry created generations of skilled workers, supported thousands of local families, and built an entire network of businesses and supply chains across the North East."

But her past comments have been slammed by the SNP’s Jack Middleton (below) – the party’s MSP for Aberdeen Central.

He told The Herald: “Aberdeen South requires a serious candidate who will back our energy sector to the hilt – not spouting nonsense about 5G mast theories or bizarre devil worship conspiracies.

“Only the SNP will put our energy sector first while the Westminster parties will do what they have always done – treat our premier industry as a cash cow and betray workers time and time again.”

A Scottish Conservatives spokesperson said: “Once again Reform have serious questions to answer over their flawed candidates vetting process.

“The election result less than a couple of weeks ago showed Reform cannot beat the SNP in Aberdeen South. Pro-UK voters must unite behind Douglas Lumsden and the Scottish Conservatives if we want to defeat the SNP."

Reform UK have been approached for comment.
