Reese Witherspoon doing ‘much better’ following ‘rough’ decision to split from second husband Jim Toth

Reese Witherspoon reportedly did not have an “easy” time deciding to divorce her second husband Jim Toth – but allegedly has “no regrets” on the split.

Oscar-winner Witherspoon, 47, and talent agent Toth, 52, announced in a joint statement last month that they were to divorce.

According to People, a source has said the decision to separate was “rough” for The Morning Show star.

However, they added the star is doing “much better” following the announcement – and is choosing to focus on her three children and work.

A source reportedly said: “The divorce decision was not an easy one for her. It was rough to reach the decision and to announce it.

“Reese is doing much better now, though. She has no regrets and is just focused on her kids and work.”

Witherspoon and Toth confirmed in a joint social media statement in February they were calling time on their relationship, just two days before their twelfth wedding anniversary.

The pair have a son, Tennessee James, 10.

The actress also shares daughter Ava, 23, and son Deacon, 19, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe – whom she divorced 15 years ago.

The couple were married from 1999 to 2007.

Previously, a source claimed Reese was particularly disappointed to be parting from Toth after hoping she wouldn’t be facing a second divorce.

“Reese is obviously disappointed and upset. She never saw herself getting another divorce,” a source told People.

The source added: “It’s been very difficult for Reese to get to this point. They both concluded this was right for them.”

The insider went on to say that Witherspoon and former talent agent Toth, 52, are simply “two very different people” with her “headstrong and focused,” while he is more “laid-back,” suggesting that the clash of personalities was a contributing factor to things not working out.

That said, they insisted there is “no drama” between them, and their focus is now co-parenting 10-year-old son Tennessee James.

It is also believed that Toth will remain a presence in the lives of Witherspoon’s other children Ava, 23, and Deacon James, 19, from her previous marriage after building up a strong bond with the two over the years.

The couple’s statement read: “We have some personal news to share... It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” they wrote on social media.

“We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together.”
