Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth have announced that they are set to divorce after 11 years of marriage.
The Oscar-winning actress, 47, and former talent agent Toth, 52, confirmed their split in a joint statement on Instagram on Friday, just two days shy of their 12th wedding anniversary.
“We have some personal news to share... It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” they wrote on social media.
“We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together.”
The former couple - who share 10-year-old son Tennessee James Toth - first met in 2010 at a gathering at a friend’s house. They tied the knot the following year at the Morning Show star’s home in California.
Toth is Witherspoon’s second husband. She was previously married to actor Ryan Phillippe, 48, with whom she shares daughter Ava, 23, and son Deacon James, 19.
Back in 2011, the Legally Blonde star reflected on finding love again with Toth after becoming a single parent.
Speaking to Marie Claire she said: “You know, somebody close to me once said, ‘Oh, no man will ever accept your children.’ And I just thought it was the most horrifying thing someone has ever said to me in my entire life.
“I was determined to find somebody who would make that not true. And I got lucky.”
She went on to tell that publication how Toth was “so wonderful with the children.” adding: “I’m very blessed.”
