Chelsea captain Reece James has provided an update after he suffered yet another injury setback.
Blues boss Enzo Maresca told the media on Friday that the full-back will miss their clash with Leicester City on Saturday.
James will miss his manager’s return to the King Power Stadium after picking up a minor hamstring injury.
“We have just one injured player, that is Reece James. Unfortunately he felt something small and we don’t want to take any risks for the weekend,” Maresca said.
Albeit described as a ‘small’ issue, it is just the latest in a long line of injury layoffs for the England international.
Reece James Vows To Overcome Injury Issues
Taking to Instagram, Reece James thanked fans for their support and insisted he will get the better of his injury issues.
“This is a message to the people that understand and have respect for what I’m going through,” the post started.
“I appreciate you so much, your support and kind messages go further than you could ever imagine.”

Addressing his injury, James added: ‘And just to touch on me, I’m doing okay, been better and also been worse. Another challenge ahead accepted. Eventually I’ll come out on top. Against all odds.”
James then went on to wish everyone a ‘happy and peaceful festive season’ amid his injury.
The end to his post hints that James could be out until after the Christmas holidays. Chelsea though have put out any confirmation as to how long their captain will be out of action.
Injury History
As per TransferMarkt, Reece James’ injury list displays 19 different occasions whereby the Chelsea captain has been out of action.
The 24-year-old made just 11 appearances in all competitions last season and has played just four times this term.
Reece James is one of the unluckiest players in football when it comes to injuries. The latest setback shouldn’t see him out of action for too long, but it is hoped that it will be the end of his consistent run of injuries.
He has missed 129 games in all competitions over the last six seasons with injury. This amounts to 680 days and both figures will increase with his latest issue.
