The latest Reece James injury news has confirmed that the Chelsea captain will miss Saturday’s lunch time clash with Leicester City.
Blues boss Enzo Maresca was speaking to the media on the eve of their match with the Foxes when he announced that James has picked up a minor hamstring problem.
Maresca returns to the King Power Stadium for the first time after winning the EFL Championship title their last season. Here, we have the match preview, prediction, team news and predicted lineups.
The Italian has enjoyed a solid start to life at Stamford Bridge since taking over from Mauricio Pochettino in the summer. The Blues are currently third in the Premier League.
However, James will not be part of the squad who heads north on Saturday morning. Maresca explained that they will not be taking any risks with the right-back.
“We have just one injured player, that is Reece. Unfortunately he felt something small and we don’t want to take any risks for the weekend,” Maresca said.

Reece James Injury History
According to TransferMarkt, the Reece James injury list displays 19 different occasions whereby the Chelsea captain has been crocked for the club.
Including his latest hamstring problem, the right-back has seeked medical attention a whopping 20 times since the start of the 2019/20 season.
Admittedly, you’ll be very hard pushed to find a player who has endured such bad luck with injuries. However, his latest set back shouldn’t see him sidelined for long.
In total, James has missed a staggering 129 games in all competitions over the last six seasons. In terms of days, it amounts to 680 but both sets of figures will increase slightly with his latest hamstring problem.
The news comes as a huge blow to the fans favourite as it did appear he put his injury problems behind him. This year, he has only featured on four occasions for the Blues.
