Redcliffe Bridge closure: First Bus route changes in full as repairs continue

First Bus has confirmed further changes to the existing diversion routes in place because of the Redcliffe Bascule Bridge closure. The key route is closed for more than two months up until October 9 to allow for repair works.

Bristol City Council has said that extensive repairs are needed for the bridge over Bristol's floating harbour, which is expected to take ten weeks. However, there will continue to be some disruption once the bridge reopens for road use including some lane closures and temporary traffic signals.

The 80-year-old bridge, which connects Redcliffe to Welsh Back near Queen Square, is completely closed from Monday, August 1, while contractors Alun Griffiths fixes the machinery which opens and closes it.

A huge list of First Bus services have been affected by the works already, but now further services are being amended accordingly due to the repairs.

A spokesperson for First Bus said: "From 7am Tuesday, August 30, services 23, 24, 71, 75, 76, 90, A1 m1, m2 and Brislington Park and Ride will serve Broad Quay as normal then divert via Marsh Lane, Baldwin Street, Bristol Bridge and Redcliff Street to resume normal routes at Redcliffe roundabout.

"No bus stops for services 23, 24, 71, 5, 76 and 90 will be missed. Regretfully the bus stop on Queen Square (Q1) for Metrobus m1 and m2 will not be served and passengers are advised to board or alight at C5 on Broad Quay."
