Coastal homes are coveted properties, and even more so when the owner is a renowned public figure.
Such is the case with the late former Boston Red Sox player Tim Wakefield's Florida estate, which has just hit the market for £3.3 million.
The property, considered one of the world's best homes, is located in the exclusive Indian Harbour Beach community on Florida's Space Coast, is sprawling and spectacular, featuring four bedrooms, four bathrooms (plus an additional two half bathrooms), and 6,242 square feet of space. Its major selling point is its proximity to the Banana River, as well as its luxe interiors. Let's take a closer look.
The luxury property looks out at the river, and is surrounded by lush palm trees, making for a true oasis in this private community. The yellow exterior and Spanish-style roof add to the vacation-worthy ambiance.
Not only does it the home look out at the water, but the rear of the property features a gorgeous (and private) resort-style swimming pool. As a bonus, it comes with beach entry.
The grand foyer is palatial, with marble columns and velvet curtains creating an opulent appearance. We love the touch of red on the curtains, which cuts the otherwise monochromatic area of the property.
The dining room keeps up the luxe appearance, with a crystal chandelier hanging above a sleek, gray table and matching chair set. Meanwhile, the gathered curtains add some texture and volume to the space.
The living room sees modern meet traditional with cooling, white marble floors and wood, built-in shelving units. The open style allows for plenty of items to be displayed, while the brown sofa warms up the room.
An all-white kitchen exudes quiet luxury, and Wakefield's is no exception. It is fitted with custom cabinetry, marble countertops, & top-of-the-line appliances. The unique light fixtures give some textural interest to the smooth space.
The bedroom is handsome in every sense of the word thanks to a dark wood bed frame and matching dresser. The large mirror and double art works on either side of the bed are functional and visually pleasing, giving a refined spin on the gallery wall.
The ensuite bathroom continues to implement luxurious woods, making up the vanity (which features a uniquely-shaped, white mirror) and contrasting the marble details on the counter and bathtub. The crystal chandelier once again adds an air of luxury.
The wine cellar is every vino-lover's dream, with ample space to store rare or valuable bottles. Alternatively, it is the perfect space to being a collection in.
The office is, in our opinion, the home's pièce de résistance. Wood walls evoke the feeling of being in a historical library, while the double doors give the room a grand presence. The built-in shelves are perfect for storing and displaying beloved books.
