The rector of a private school in Glasgow dogged by a dispute with staff over pensions is to stand down next week.
An email seen by the Record from Hutchesons' Educational Grammar said “new leadership” was required at the school.
Members of the EIS teaching union at the school went on strike recently amid a “fire and rehire” row.
According to the union, staff were sent letters over the Easter break saying they would have to sign new contracts, with the jobs of anyone who refused being advertised elsewhere.
The strike was halted, but restarted due to a failure to resolve the row.
An email to former pupils and friends of the school, sent by the chairman of the board, noted that the last few months had been “very challenging”.
He added: “After careful reflection, the Rector and the Board of Governors have together decided that new leadership is needed to position the school in the best place to move forward.
“Colin Gambles will therefore step down from the role of Rector from 14 July 2023.”
First Minister Humza Yousaf and Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar both attended the school.
