Illan Meslier's performance in Leeds United's 2-1 win at Liverpool on Saturday has certainly earned him a lot of plaudits. Meslier was handed Sky Sports' man of the match award after producing nine saves at Anfield, the most he has ever made in a single match during his time at Leeds.
That total was also the most of any goalkeeper in a Premier League game this season, highlighting the importance of his contribution in Leeds ' famous win. One-on-one saves has been a strength of Meslier's for a long time now and Saturday was no different as he denied Darwin Nunez on two separate occasions when the Uruguayan only had the 'keeper to beat.
Meslier has also been named in two different team of the weeks thanks to his performance, first making into the official Premier League one. Alan Shearer has chosen him in XI from the weekend, too - the only Leeds player to make it into the two sides.

The 22-year-old's performance did not go unnoticed in his homeland, either, with French outlet SoFoot.com, lavishing him in praise. They claim that while the World Cup may come a little early for his national team hopes, it will not be long until he is 'among the greats.'
They wrote: "With the talent and maturity he has once again demonstrated, seeing him among the greats is probably only a question of time." Big but most definitely deserved praise indeed.
