The SPFL have revealed the amount of prize money on offer to Hearts, Hibs and Edinburgh FC in the Premier Sports Cup for season 22/23 with more than £2.1 million to be shared out between the rounds.
Each club participating in this season’s competition is guaranteed to receive at least £22,000 and the winner is bound to earn £350,000 in prize money, with further sums available for televised matches across Premier Sports. The total amount of cash to be distributed within the competition will amount to £2,157,000 – a rise of nearly £150,000 from last season.
Group stage action kicks off next months and while finishing bottom in a section rakes in £22,000, fourth-place finishers will earn £23,250 and third-place sides will take home £25,000. The five worst runners-up will be handed £29,000. In the knockout stages, the losing teams in the second round and quarter-finals will be awarded £50,000 and £80,000 respectively for their efforts.

SPFL chief Neil Doncaster said: “We are delighted to announce record prize money in this season’s Premier Sports Cup.
"Premier Sports have been fantastic supporters of our premier cup competition.
"Their investment into the Cup has allowed us to announce record prize money this season and these funds will continue to support our clubs as they recover from the pandemic."
Hearts won't enter this competition until the knockout rounds but Hibs begin their campaign in the group stage at home to Clyde while FC Edinburgh take on Stranraer.
