Teens inspired by the heroic work of nurses during the pandemic are studying to follow in their footsteps in record numbers, new data has revealed.
There has been a surge in 18-year-old students choosing to study nursing since 2019, according to Ucas data, with nearly seven in 10 reporting that the pandemic was the motive for them to apply,
In total, a record 28,815 students in England of all ages selected a nursing course in 2021 as their first choice when applying to university.
