A brush fire, known as the Record Fire, ignited near San Jacinto, California, scorching more than 650 acres on Sunday. The fire was first reported around 2:15 p.m. in the vicinity of Soboba Road and Gilman Spring Road, located north of San Jacinto, as confirmed by the Riverside County Fire Department.

Following an investigation by fire officials, it was determined that the fire was caused by human activity. As of 10 p.m. local time, the fire remains uncontained, with containment efforts ongoing.

During the firefighting operations, six firefighters sustained minor injuries and were subsequently hospitalized. Ground units and water-dropping aircraft were deployed to assist in combating the blaze.

Evacuation warnings were issued for certain areas in Riverside County due to the fire's proximity. To support those affected, a care and reception center has been established at Nicolet Middle School in Banning.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation as authorities work to determine the full extent of the damage and the circumstances surrounding its origin.
