During the 15-week presidential race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, advertisers have collectively spent over $2.3 billion, marking a significant ad blitz. Notably, Democrats have outspent Republicans, with a total expenditure of about $1.4 billion compared to $933 million.
For context, in the final 15 weeks of the 2020 presidential election, the total advertising spending for the White House race amounted to approximately $1.7 billion. Democrats held a lead over Republicans, with a total spending of about $1 billion versus $631 million, as reported by the ad tracking firm AdImpact.
In the upcoming 2024 election, seven pivotal battleground states, namely Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Arizona, and Nevada, have attracted around 80% of all ad dollars spent between President Biden's withdrawal and Election Day.
Among these battleground states, Pennsylvania stands out as a key focus, accounting for roughly one-fifth of all ad spending during this intense campaign period. With over half a billion dollars poured into advertising efforts, Pennsylvania emerges as the primary target for both political parties as they vie for voter attention and support.
