Law and District star Tehillah Ikechukwu Okonkwo smashed two indoor records on her way to a gold medal treble recently.
The under-17 athlete hit top form at the Scottish Schools Indoor Championships at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena late last month when she won the 60m in a new personal best and new club record time of 7.71s, before also claiming top spot in the 200m in a swift time of 25.21s.
But she performed even better on February 4 at the Scottish National Indoor Championships, winning the championship title in the U17 200m in a new Championship Best Performance time of 24.57s, breaking the previous record which has stood since 2001.
Her superb displays were supported by yet more fine showings from her club-mates during both events.
At the Scottish Schools event, U13 Cara Murphy competed in the mixed para 60m, winning gold in a new personal best time of 8.76s.
There was more joy for the Murphy family when Cara’s brother, U17 star Owen, achieved bronze in the 60m sprint, in a new personal best time of 7.24s – which was also a new club record.
U15 Anna Bondar won bronze in the shot put with a fine throw of 8.48m, while U17 Ross Ferguson also achieved bronze in the shot put with a personal best throw of 10.48m.
U20 Jade Gray won silver in shot put with a massive throw of 10.54m and U15 Skye Davidson took the bronze medal in the 300m with a personal best time of 43.67s.
Owen was back in the medals at the Scottish Indoors on February 4, winning bronze in the U17 60m, equalling his personal best and club record time of 7.24s.
To round off a fantastic couple of weeks for the club, U23 Leah Keisler then won bronze in the 800m in a new personal best and new club record time of 2:11.98mins.
