There were 80 more Covid-19 fatalities, the highest in the new wave, and a record high of 27,071 confirmed new cases during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Friday morning.

The figures did not include 23,157 positive results from antigen tests over the past 24 hours. This would raise the total to 50,228.

The latest 80 fatalities were between the ages of 30 and 101 years.

There were 26,919 new cases in the general population, 103 among prison inmates and 49 imported cases.

Of the new infections in the general population, 26,826 were confirmed at hospitals and 93 via mass testing.

Hospital beds for seriously ill patients were 27% occupied overall, 34% in Bangkok, said the CCSA.
