Reckless motorhome driver smashes into student's car on Scots motorway causing car to spin three times

A student has been left 'shaken up' after a motorhome smashed into the back of her car causing her to spin three times on a Scots motorway.

Amy Evans had been travelling near the Granada roundabout on the outskirts of Musselburgh in East Lothian at 2.15pm yesterday when the horrific incident took place.

The 24-year-old fashion student thankfully sustained no serious injuries but has been left “frustrated” from the ordeal.

Without care to see how Amy was or to swap details for damage purposes, the driver fled the scene of the incident.

She says that she was in the furthest lane travelling towards Wallyford when the inconsiderate driver attempted to turn off to Musselburgh from the inside lane.

This caused the larger vehicle to smash into the back of her vehicle which then spun three times. The crash left the car damaged to the point where it can no longer be driven and has shaken up Amy who was in the car by herself at the time.

On the horrifying crash, Amy told Edinburgh Live: “It happened yesterday at around 14:15pm on Granada roundabout when I was coming from Edinburgh towards Musselburgh. I was in the furthest lane going towards Wallyford and the suspect tried to take a turn off to Musselburgh in the inside lane but crashed completely into the back of me.

“My car spun three times due to the force of the crash. I was by myself and it left me really shaken up.

“He just drove off but thankfully a witness, Graeme, who was driving behind me stayed with me, and he also tried to go after the suspect. But the motorhome drove off very fast so we couldn’t capture any more information to share with the police.

“Thankfully I’m not majorly hurt but just have some minor injuries, it could’ve been way worse. I sometimes have my younger brother in the car with me.

“It’s just disgusting he drove off and I’m stuck with a car that’s not drivable. It’s the inconvenience and frustration I feel, thankfully I have a witness Graeme who saw everything and went to try to go after him.

“The vehicle that crashed into me was a white motorhome with a blue stripe. The driver from what I can vaguely remember was a young male with brown hair.”

Police Scotland have been made aware of the incident and anyone with any relevant information on the incident are advised to call 101 and quote the crime reference number of CR:08072022-1802.
