Rebel Wilson denies on-set bullying accusations during defamation court case

  • Rebel Wilson is facing a defamation lawsuit from Charlotte MacInnes, the lead actor in Wilson's directorial debut, The Deb, concerning a social media post.
  • The legal dispute centres on Wilson's claim that MacInnes fabricated and subsequently retracted a sexual harassment complaint against producer Amanda Ghost to further her career.
  • During her testimony in Sydney, Wilson vehemently denied accusations of bullying women on set, labelling them “absolute nonsense”, and asserted her long-standing commitment to supporting women.
  • MacInnes's legal team alleged that Wilson acted as a “bully” and hired a crisis public relations firm, The Agency Group (TAG), to create websites attacking Ghost, an accusation Wilson has “unequivocally” denied.
  • The ongoing legal proceedings have caused a delay in the Australian theatrical release of The Deb, with MacInnes seeking aggravated damages and an injunction to prevent Wilson from reiterating the allegations.
