Reasons why we love heading for a night out in Belfast

Belfast may be relatively smaller than a lot of the major cities across the UK but the craic sure is mighty.

A recent study from Get Licensed recently placed our city as the 8th worst place for a night out in the UK by analysing the number of venues per head, the cost of a pint and a range of safety issues.

With York voted as the best and Coventry voted as the worst, we feel that Belfast city's booming hospitality and nightlife industry has not been given the justice it deserves.

We have comprised a list of reasons why Belfast is a great city for a night out and deserves to be top of the table:

1. The range of bars, clubs and venues across the city

The hospitality industry in Belfast is incredibly diverse with so many unique establishments making the city a stand out for a night out.

We would be here all day trying to list all the spots at hand for a bar crawl!

Whether be pints in the Errigle, a whiskey in the sun at The Duke of York, a cocktail in The Merchant or a boogie in Limelight, every corner of Belfast is littered with pubs, bars and clubs with something for everyone.

2. Restaurants that keep you coming back for more

Your mother always warned you not to drink on an empty stomach and the fantastic restaurants and eateries in Belfast always have you covered.

A civilised bottle of wine (or two) with your dinner at Hadskis, a frozen margarita with tacos at Bootleggers or pizza and a pint of craft beer in The Sunflower are hard to beat.

From Michelin star restaurants to seriously good street food, you will never leave Belfast hungry.

3. Our incredible live music scene

Whether it be a chilled acoustic singer or a full five-piece band, Belfast has some incredible talent that play across its bars and pubs that make that night out atmosphere even more special.

From The Harp Bar to The Points, nothing beats sipping drinks and tapping your feet in the heart of the capital.

With venues such as Limelight and Voodoo putting on some seriously impressive gigs, we are shocked that Belfast could be placed so low down on the list.

4. The proximity of all your favourite spots

Belfast may be small but this necessarily does not mean it is a bad thing.

The city is perfect for a bar crawl because a lot of our bars and clubs are within a short walking distance of each other - the Cathedral Quarter, arguably the hub of nightlife in the city, has some of Belfast's most popular spots within seconds of one another.

Likewise, if you wanted to head from North Belfast to South or from east to west, a short taxi journey will have you there in no time ready to party.

5. The post-night out takeaway

(Arguably sometimes the best part of a night out)

You may have been planning on getting that pizza since you started getting ready or just happened to stumble across an open takeaway on your way home, but food after a night out always hits differently.

And fortunately for us, Belfast is hiving with delicious takeaways that can provide the good after a night on the drink or after you've danced the night away.

Chip Co anyone?

6. The Belfast Charm

There is just something about the nightlife in Belfast that makes it a city like no other.

Whether it be the colourful characters you meet along the way, the unique pubs nestled into entries and alleyways or the beauty of the city itself, who needs a trip away when Belfast is on your doorstep!
