Reason for minute's silence ahead of Celtic vs RB Leipzig

Celtic and RB Leipzig will observe a minute's silence to pay respects to victims of flooding in Valencia.

Ahead of the Champions League match between the clubs a moment of silence will be held as a mark of respect.

UEFA announced a minute's silence would take place at all matches this week in memory of victims and all those impacted by the flooding in Spain.

A short statement read: "UEFA will hold a moment of silence at all UEFA club competition matches this week in memory of the victims of the deadly floods in Valencia and all those impacted in the region and beyond."

All UEFA matches this week, in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League will see clubs pay respects in a pre-match mark of respect.

A year's worth of rain hit the Valencia region of Spain last week causing at least 217 deaths with major relief efforts ongoing alongside searches for missing people including in underground car parks.

Barcelona has since been hit by serious flooding issues in the days following the relief efforts in Valencia. 

Areas in Spain have been placed on red alert over further significant projected rainfall.
