Benzema had sat out Saturday’s win at Osasuna as Los Blancos continued to manage his fitness, the striker having struggled with injuries and knocks all season.

But the 35-year-old was simply being saved for the Liverpool game, the first leg of their last-16 tie, and yesterday flew out to England with the Real squad before being pictured in training at the stadium.
