Liverpool may have been dealt a potential blow in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.
The Reds continue to be heavily linked with the England international, who appears to be one of the most sought after players in Europe. Bellingham impressed at the World Cup in Qatar, and his future is around an intense subject of speculation.
Bellingham certainly has admirers from Anfield, most notably Jurgen Klopp. But other clubs are also said to be in the race to sign the 19-year-old, including Manchester City, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United.
And according to a report from ESPN , it’s the Spanish club who are looking likely to make the first move. It has been claimed that Madrid are prepared to submit an offer to sign Bellingham in January.
The report states that the La Liga giants are prepared to spend more than €100 million (£89m) in the January transfer window. It has also been stated in the article that Madrid are confident of getting a deal done in the New Year.
Despite this, the article adds that Madrid are not willing to make what is described as a “crazy” offer for Bellingham in January. But it is reported that the Spanish club have held “positive” talks with the midfielder’s representatives with a view to a transfer.
Bellingham is the midfielder who has been most heavily linked with Liverpool. Madrid have already beaten the Reds to the signing of a player in recent months, with Aurelien Tchouameni opting to move to Spain rather than Merseyside in the summer.
