Real Madrid and Barcelona agree bombshell transfer pact but Erling Haaland truce remains off the table

La Liga superpowers Barcelona and Real Madrid have reached a shock agreement to not target each other's stars who are under contract.

Luis Figo famously left the Nou Camp for a starring role as a Galactico in 2000 after the heated rivals agreed a stunning £37m deal.

The likes of Luis Enrique, Ronaldo and Samuel Eto'o are other famous names who have crossed the divide.

But the pig heads can stay in cold storage, for now, as old sparring partners Florentino Lopez and Joan Laporta have come to a signing truce.

That means no players with time left on their deals will be targeted by the other and it comes in the wake of Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo being linked with Madrid.

The agreement is null and void when it comes to free agents, according to Marca, who insist two of the biggest sides will also still go head to head for the world's best players.

And that could start with Erling Haaland.

The Borussia Dortmund goal machine will almost certainly leave this summer and he's admired both in the Spanish capital and Catalonia.

Laporta has sounded smoke signals in recent weeks that he believes the Norwegian can be had, however, several insiders believe his heart is already in Madrid, even if Kylian Mbappe also joins Los Blancos.

The news of the agreement between the great rivals will be music in the ears of La Liga chief Javier Tebas, who has been desperate for his biggest clubs to get back on track.

And it comes after superstar names such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar have departed the Spanish top flight over the past five years.
