Boris Johnson has finally confirmed his plan to step down as Prime Minister after coming under pressure from his colleagues in Governments.

A wave of resignations, started by former Health Secretary Sajid Javid and Chancellor Rishi Sunak on Tuesday, led to more calls for Mr Johnson to step down.

He said he will stay in place until a new Tory leader is selected, which could take several weeks.
