Anton Watson was the 54th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The Boston Celtics selected the five-year Gonzaga product due to his polished game and potential to become an NBA-level big in the near future. Celtics fans got their first look at Watson during the Las Vegas Summer League, where the Celtics went 2-3.
Despite DJ MacLeay’s team holding a losing record at the end of the tournament, Watson provided a good account of himself. The second-round prospect flashed NBA-ready offense, specifically on the perimeter, where he operated as a creation hub and perimeter scorer. His defense, for the most part, also shone. His ability to switch multiple positions and control driving angles made him a reliable weapon within the rotation.
Following the completion of Boston’s summer league schedule, Tomasz Kordyleski shared a highlight package of Watson’s best moments to his YouTube channel. The footage shows some high-level play on both sides of the ball from the rookie.
