NEW DELHI: Still searching for their first Indian Premier League (IPL) title despite having the best of T20 talent in their ranks over the years, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will head into the 18th season next year with a revamped squad that the franchise put together at the IPL auction in Jeddah's Abadi Al Johar Arena in Saudi Arabia.
Before the auction, RCB chose to retain only three players Virat Kohli (INR 21 crore), Rajat Patidar (INR 11 crore) and Yash Dayal (INR 5 crore) and had INR 83 crore left in their purse for shopping, which was the second-highest remaining purse among the 10 franchises.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) made impactful additions to their squad by signing all-rounder Liam Livingstone for ₹8.75 crore and wicketkeeper-batter Phil Salt for ₹11.50 crore. They also brought in Indian wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma for ₹11 crore, adding depth to their batting lineup.
On the bowling front, RCB re-signed Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood for ₹12.5 crore, strengthening their pace attack with a familiar face. Additionally, they added Indian spinner Suyash Sharma to their squad for ₹2.60 crore, enhancing their spin options.
Each franchise had INR 120 crore before the retention window.

At the auction, RCB started building their squad with their first purchase, Liam Livingstone, for INR 8.75 crore.
