Ned Gronow has been named as the 17-year-old who died after he was allegedly stabbed in his northern New South Wales home on Saturday morning.
It is the second fatal alleged stabbing of a teenager in Casino in less than a month, although police are yet to say if the two incidents are linked.
A GoFundMe page, set up by Ned's siblings to raise money for his funeral, said the teenager was "the extended younger brother for so many in town, loved by all".
Casino teenager Rayne William Aylward has been charged with murder over the death, with police alleging he visited the home in the early hours of Saturday morning and stabbed Ned in the neck.
Police say the boy's parents were home when the alleged attack happened, and that he died at the scene.
A crime scene was established at the home, where officers searched the surrounding area with the dog unit.
Mr Aylward, 18, did not apply for bail and it was formally refused when he appeared at Lismore Local Court on Monday.
His parents blew kisses at him from the public gallery as he sat in the dock.
The state's homicide squad has been called in to assist local police as Strike Force Linford was established to investigate.
