I’m genuinely envious of everyone attending the Brits tonight who will get to see Raye live for the first time. From the moment she steps on stage, she has that megawatt kind of star quality you didn’t realise they made any more. Raye had a sold-out O2 Arena eating out of the palm of her hand for the second night of her sold-out six London dates on her international This Tour May Contain New Music tour. Now she’ll be on her way to Manchester, where she’s performing and nominated for Pop Act and Song of the Year.
The Grammy-winning artist practically opened with that smash hit song, WHERE IS MY HUSBAND! in an absolutely baller move. Arriving on stage, draped in a huge white fur coat, she sang her as-yet-unreleased track I Will Overcome beneath a glowing storm cloud, calling out those tiresome Amy Winehouse comparisons. Diving behind the curtain like a vaudeville veteran, she teased the audience before the red velvet dropped to reveal her big band and launched into a bombastic rendition of her chart-topping wish for a big ‘n’ shiny diamond ring.
