Ray J uploaded a string of worrying posts to social media on Thursday night, as he expressed suicidal thoughts and questioned if life was an "illusion".
The 41-year-old singer has since deleted the messages which were shared on Instagram. One video showed him sitting at a point high above the ground.
The caption read: "If it wasn't 4 my Kidz I would jump off and die tonight."
Ray J also took to his Instagram Story and said he was "trying to figure it out - maybe this life was a illusion." He suggested "the next life was my real reality."
While the concerning posts have since been taken down, fans have been sharing their love and support online.
"Hope ray j hangs in there," one fan tweeted, while another added: "Praying with @RayJ God got you fam."
A third person wrote: "Prayers goes out to him."
A source close to the musician has since said he had been drinking when he posted the messages and was persuaded to delete them by his wife Princess Love, according to TMZ.
The insider added that Ray J – real name William Ray Norwood Jr – was only "messing around" on social media and did not require a trip to the hospital.
The Mirror has contacted Ray J's representatives for comment.
A source claimed he had shared the posts while on holiday in Mexico with his wife and their children; Melody, four, and Epik, two.
